Real estate mourns passing of the Queen

Messages of thanks, sadness and best wishes for the Royal Family have flooded in from the real estate industry as it pays tribute to the country’s longest reigning monarch, following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday evening.

The Crown Estate said: “The longest reigning British monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II led a life of selfless and generous service to the nation. Her Majesty’s enjoyment of the outdoors was a great inspiration to many and we are privileged that the Great Park in Windsor was a special place for her throughout her life.

“We have been privileged to have served as stewards of the Crown Estate throughout Her Majesty’s long and successful reign, and we will miss Her Majesty greatly.”

The Duke of Westminster, owner of the Grosvenor Estate, said: “The Queen’s death has brought immense sadness and shock. She was a constant presence in all our lives, the majority of us never knowing a world without her.

“This is a time for mourning, but it can also be a moment of reflection as we honour her extraordinary life. She was, and will remain, a focal point for international unity, inspiring us all to draw the best out of each other and our communities. She represented a beacon of hope in times of crisis and personified national pride in times of celebration.”

He added: “While she will rightly be remembered for her resolute leadership, her service and selfless duty, I would also like to personally pay tribute to her warmth and the immense joy she brought to us all. On behalf of my family and everyone at Grosvenor, our thoughts are with the King, the Queen Consort and the Royal Family.”

Similar messages from British Land, Landsec, SEGRO, Canary Wharf Group, Knight Frank, Savills and CBRE have been shared, all remembering a remarkable life and thanking the Queen for her service.

The RICS, of which the Queen was patron, said: “Ruling for longer than any monarch in British history, her lifelong devotion and commitment to public service as sovereign for the UK and Commonwealth will never be forgotten.

“Her Majesty the Queen was the longest-serving patron of RICS, and we had the privilege of welcoming her to the RICS London headquarters to mark our 150-year celebration in 2018. During her visit, the Queen toured the building and met members of the profession – a truly momentous occasion for all involved. Her presence on this day and her unwavering commitment to her RICS patronage will remain a special and important part of our history.”

James Gray, managing partner at Cluttons, said:  “We would like to express our deepest sadness and condolences at the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“This is a moment of immense sadness and mourning, but it is also a time to reflect on her momentous reign. The Queen has been a constant presence in all our lives, the majority of us never knowing a time without her.

“She represented stability and hope in times of crisis and personified national pride in times of celebration, inspiring us all to draw the best out of each other. She will be remembered for her leadership, dignity, resilience, and grace.

“On behalf of everyone at Cluttons, our thoughts are with the King, the Queen Consort, and the Royal Family.”

Lesley Roberts, president of build-to-rent body UKAA, said: “Few individuals have given so much for so many years in the name of public duty as HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has been an inspiration to so many around the world throughout her 70 years of service. Her death is a true national loss.

“Throughout everything, Her Majesty recognised the importance of service, of home and of creating, maintaining and sustaining communities. The Queen has passed these values, along with a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and the importance of tackling climate change, down to the Royal Family. We are proud that such values will continue as part of Her Majesty’s legacy here in the UK and abroad.”
