QVC’s HQ hunt narrows to five sites

Television shopping channel QVC has narrowed its search for a new HQ to five London sites, more than two years after it launched its requirement.


The broadcaster iscurrently based at the 140,000 sq ft Marco Polo House in Battersea, SW8.


Among theshortlisted sites are Stanhope’s, Schroders’ and API’s 1.8m sq ft Chiswick Park in west London; RREEF’s 440,000 sq ft 200 Aldersgate Street, EC1; Land Securities’ and Canadian fund Cadillac Fairview’s Thomas More Square in Wapping, E1; and Helical Bar’s 116,000 sq ft Battersea Studios.


QVC, advised by Drivers Jonas, needs to leave the south London building by July 2012 when its £500,000 pa lease expires. It is looking for between 120,000 sq ft and 150,000 sq ft of studio and office space.


Argent’s King’s Cross Central, Landid’s, GE Real Estate’s and O&H Properties’ 170,000 sq ft Ark in Hammersmith, W6, and Peel Holdings’ MediaCity in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, were among more than 20 locations viewed by QVC over the two-year period but have not been shortlisted.


Marco Polo House, close to Battersea Power Station, has been earmarked for redevelopment as a 15-storey residential development by its Russian owner, Anastasia.
