The economist Vicky Pryce has said a Brexit will increase the “uncertainty premium” with foreign investors.
Speaking to Estates Gazette at an EU referendum event organised by Helix Property last night (7 June), she said the “shock” of a vote to leave Europe would impact heavily on investment decisions.
“Being tied to the EU is one of the reasons foreign companies and investors want to invest in the UK and if we leave, investors are much less likely to come here because we will no longer be a gateway to Europe.”
She added: “I just hope economic sense prevails and we choose remain but polls suggest it will be tight.”
