A tenant is staging a daily protest against the London property business that bought her entire Welsh village for £1m, after it almost doubled the rent on her home.
Sara Lewis, who has emphysema, is conducting her protest on a village bench outside in the cold. She says her rent on the 300-year-old cottage where she has lived for 22 years has been increased from £300 a month to £500.
The 16 homes in the former slate mining village of Aberllefenni near Machynlleth, Powys, were bought by Walsh Investment Properties last year.
Owner Christopher Walsh said: “We feel it is fair and reasonable to charge a market rent.”
