Hart in Hampshire has been named as the place with the best quality of life in the UK for a fifth consecutive year, but proposals for a new town nearby could threaten that status.
Local groups have described plans for up to 5,000 new homes and two schools on a greenfield site in Winchfield, included in the district council’s 2016-18 corporate plan, as hopeless.
A local resident and barrister, Peter Village, said he was confident that a proper public consultation would mean a different housing strategy on a brownfield site.
