Primark will open a 70,000 sq ft shop as part of a £600m extension of Westfield London, W12.
Other retailers joining the extension also include luxury beauty brand Space NK, which is taking 820 sq ft, and beauty store Urban Decay, which is taking 1,856 sq ft.
Women’s lingerie retailer Bravissimo will also open a 4,800 sq ft shop and will be joined by men’s fashion brands Frencheye, which will open a 1,302 sq ft shop, and Emperor, which will open a 581 sq ft shop – its first in the UK. Currys PC World is opening an 8,320 sq ft shop in the extension.
These retailers and others will join the previously announced 230,000 sq ft full-line John Lewis department store in the extension, alongside Chinese fashion brand Urban Revivo’s flagship 22,000 sq ft store, its first outside Asia.
Westfield announced last month that Europe’s largest 17,400 sq ft Japanese Food Hall, Ichiba, and the first in a new generation of boutique bowling venues for All Star Lanes, which is taking 16,910 sq ft, will also open within the extension.
H&M, Adidas, Boots, Lush, The White Company, Monsoon, Guess, UGG and Cath Kidston will all be launching bigger stores within the extension to coincide with the March opening.
Those taking larger footprints follow the lead of Zara earlier this year, whose own expansion created the brand’s largest shop in the UK spanning 42,000 sq ft as part of Westfield’s new concept – The High Street of Flagships.
The expansion of Westfield London will create an extra 740,000 sq ft of retail, dining, entertainment and leisure space, bringing the total gross leasable area to 2.6m sq ft and number of stores from 360 to 450.
Keith Mabbett, director of leasing, Westfield UK and Europe, said: “Primark has attracted millions of visitors to Westfield Stratford City, and the expansion of Westfield London has enabled us to provide large-scale modern retail space for this important retailer.”
He added: “London continues to be an attractive destination for major international retailers and we’re working closely with brands to deliver new and innovative retail spaces.”
