The Presidents Club spent more money on its lavish men-only parties than it gave to charity in three of the past four years, according to an analysis of its latest accounts.
In the worst example, the party cost about £406,500 in 2013 but only £191,300 was given to good causes, raising questions about the charitable intentions of such black-tie events.
Overall, the Presidents Club, made up of wealthy businessmen, spent nearly £4.5m on its annual parties between 2005 and 2016, and gave a total of £6.6m to charity, according to an analysis of its accounts.
