Powerhouse deal cheers investors

VIDEO: Middle Eastern investors are encouraged by the government’s northern powerhouse devolution deal, panellists at Estates Gazette’s Manchester Question Time debate said.

Richard Jackson, co-founder of Apache Capital, told a 200-strong audience at One St Peter’s Square that investors’ perception was that the devolution deal was a vote of confidence from central government that the region could make sound decisions over its economic future and that their money would be secure there.

They were also buoyed by that fact that in 2017, the region will by overseen by a mayor, with that role being filled in the interim by Question Time panellist Tony Lloyd, the Greater Manchester Police Commissioner.
