Portman Travel doubles space at Manchester’s Tootal Buildings

Portman Travel has expanded to take an additional 11,000 sq ft at the Tootal Buildings in Manchester city centre.

The deal will more than double the space that the company’s Clarity Travel and Destination Sport businesses occupy in the buildings at 56 Oxford Street, taking the total to nearly 20,000 sq ft.

The move, which will see Portman Travel take its existing and additional space on a new 10-year lease, comes after recent growth for the company and the completion of several acquisitions.

Property consultants Fisher German acted on behalf of Portman Travel. Partner David Laws said: “Much of the recent office market narrative has focused on businesses seeking less space in a post-pandemic, hybrid work environment. This deal bucks the trend and it’s great to see businesses expand and invest in their workplaces.”

Stephen Wormald, associate partner at landlord XLB, said: “Our commitment to providing sustainable workspace together with best-in-class amenities and occupier engagement, has facilitated 55,000 sq ft of new leases during 2023, taking the buildings to 98% occupied.”
