Plans submitted for £50m Somerset LeisureDome

Plans for the South West’s first and exclusive indoor LeisureDome, which will house the UK’s longest indoor real-snow ski slope, have been submitted to North Somerset council.

The £50m extreme sport and recreational development will feature a 690ft indoor ski slope, a climbing centre, a health club, children’s activity zone and crèche, as well as a host of other leisure and extreme sport activities. These will include a skateboard and BMX park, freefall centre and an indoor surf centre simulator. There will also be a range of sport-related retail, cafes and restaurants.

The LeisureDome will form part of the 200-acre regeneration of Locking Parklands in Weston-super-Mare, which is being developed by St Modwen and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The 356,414 sq ft scheme will be built on 12.7-acres along the eastern boundary of the Locking Parklands site, and will cover three floors fronting onto a strategic park serving amixed-use development of residential, retail, leisure and community facilities.

GVA advised on planning.
