Duddingston House Properties Ltd and AXA Investment Managers have submitted a planning application for an £80m mixed-use development in Westfield, West Edinburgh.
The 5.6-acre development will contain 303 flats, 20,000 sq ft of small business space and 42,000 sq ft of retail on a brownfield site alongside the Water of Leith.
Phase one of the scheme, which is being developed in association with Dunedin Canmore Housing Association and Granfit Holdings, comprises the 17 workpace units and 176 of the one, two and three bed flats.
The masterplan includes the replacement of the existing B&Q on Stevenson Road with new retail units with residential units above, which will be carried out in phase two.
Susan Napier, of Dunedin Camore, said: “We are delighted to be working with Duddingston House Properties on this development and believe that mix of the housing and other uses is extremely appropriate.
“The design is modern and attractive and will provide more much needed affordable housing in Edinburgh with the added bonus of being located in a great environment fronting on to the Water of Leith.”
Charles Martin, of Duddingston House Properties, said: “It is rewarding to see our original vision of Westfield’s potential regeneration turned into a reality.
“In collaboration with the other stakeholders, we have developed a truly mixed development which addresses both the employment and residential demands of Edinburgh whilst also opening the Water of Leith to the public”
