Designs for what would be the City of London’s tallest building, to be built on the site of the Aviva tower at 1 Undershaft, EC3, have been revealed.
The Eric Parry-designed scheme, developed on behalf of Asian billionaires Juok Khoon Hong and Martua Sitorus, envisages a 73-storey tower rising 1,016 ft, the same height as the Shard, SE1.
It would feature just under 1m sq ft of office space in regular floor plates, supported by a skeleton of diagonal steel columns, according to an environmental impact assessment submitted last week.
Plans also include a high-level public restaurant, viewing gallery and 50,000 sq ft of public realm that would link the new public square in front of the neighbouring Leadenhall building.
A public consultation on the scheme opens today at 10am at the Bishopsgate Institute.
The owners’ Singapore-based property company, Aroland Holdings, intends to submit a full planning application for the scheme next year.
JLL acted for Aroland in the purchase of 1 Undershaft and continues to provide advice.
