The London Tunnels company, led by Australian banker Angus Murray, has submitted plans to convert a mile-long series of secret tunnels under the City of London into a £220m tourist attraction.
The plans, lodged with the City of London Corporation and London Borough of Camden, will see 86,000 sq ft of underground space transformed into a central London tourist attraction, with two exhibition spaces, the deepest bar in the UK and retail facilities.

The entrance to the development will be at 39-40 Furnival Street, EC4. A secondary entrance at 31-33 High Holborn, WC1, will provide access to the bar and for school groups visiting the tunnels.
The exhibition space and bar will have capacity for 750 and 160 people, respectively.
The tunnels, protected by the Official Secrets Act for 70 years, were built as bomb shelters during the Second World War, and were later used by the Special Operations Executive, the forerunner of MI5 and MI6.
