TfL’s property company Places for London has selected Fastned as its partner for the roll-out of electric vehicle charging hubs on its estate.
The hubs will combine off-street ultra-rapid charging technology along with placemaking elements such as retail.
Places for London plans to form an official joint venture with Fastned and begin delivering the sites in 2026.
Five initial sites have already been identified in Ealing, Canning Town, Hatton Cross, Tottenham Hale and Hillingdon Circus, with plans for at least a further 25 to be delivered in the coming years.
Fastned currently operates 25 charging hubs in the UK and 325 across Europe.
The joint venture is designed to support the mayor of London’s pledge to make the city net zero carbon by 2030. Revenue raised from the hubs will be reinvested into TfL’s transport network.
Places for London director of strategy and planning Mark Farrow said: “We are excited to have now selected Fastned as our preferred partner for our new joint venture to bring forward a number of new electric vehicle charging hubs.
“These hubs will help encourage high-mileage businesses such as taxi, private hire and commercial drivers, across London, to confidently make the transition to electric vehicles.”
