Pioneer Group has appointed Carter Jonas and Track Real Estate as leasing agents for Hexagon Tower, Greater Manchester.
The 10-storey, 165,000 sq ft building in Blackley was designed by Richard Seifert. It opened in 1973 as one of Manchester’s incubators for growing life sciences businesses. Tenants include Intertek, Lonza and Fresenius.
The building has recently undergone a £10m refurbishment, adding wet labs with individual suites from 300 sq ft to 2,400 sq ft and facilities up to 15,000 sq ft.
Matt Lee, head of science and technology at Carter Jonas, said: “This is the second site where we are partnering with Pioneer Group, collaborating with their team on a long-term strategy to raise further the profile of this facility. With its proximity to North Manchester General Hospital and a strong cluster of companies, we see this as an opportunity for specialist innovators who want to access this ecosystem.”
Jeroen Houtzager, director at Pioneer Group, said: “Blackley continues to be a growing cluster for life sciences in Manchester and the North West region and Carter Jonas is the partner to help us grow Hexagon Tower as a destination for companies spinning out of North West universities, owing to their strong relationships with the NHS and academic institutions.
“Hexagon Tower provides the facilities for ‘grow on’ space which includes lab space and office space, manufacturing facilities, storage facilities, and point of care services. Pioneer Group can provide the growth capital through our accelerator programme and access to venture capital.”
