People and companies: Castleforge appoints hotels acquisitions director

Harper Dennis Hobbs has appointed Andy Metherell (left) as head of consultancy to strengthen the firm’s data analytics offering. He has worked at the firm for six years as a senior retail consultant and, in his new role, he will be focusing on delivering market-leading data analysis and consultancy for the company’s wide range of international clients.

Carter Jonas has promoted Tommy Newbigging (middle) as head of Long Melford residential. He joined the firm in 2016 in the residential sales department.

Matt Lederer (right) has joined property investment firm Castleforge as hotels acquisitions director. He joins from Marriott International where he was UK development director and will broaden the firm’s portfolio from investment in residential and office property to hotels.

David McArthur has been appointed as head of investment at The Howard de Walden Estate. He currently works at Savills and will join the business on 21 September. He will succeed Julian Best, who will become executive property director when Simon Baynham retires from that post at the end of September.

Lester Aldridge has appointed Rebecca Walker as a partner in its restructuring and insolvency team based in Southampton. She has more than 12 years’ experience handling complex restructuring and insolvencies as well as providing strategic advice to companies and insolvency practitioner clients.

Former Crest Nicholson development director, Toby Lambert, and chartered architect and urban design specialist, Martin Williams, have collaborated to form Agora Land. The new land expert and architects’ team will promote and develop vacant and brownfield sites across the East of England, in the counties of Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk.

CapitalRise has appointed Stuart Peel as finance director to oversee all financial matters. Peel joins the business after seven years at the Berkeley Group. Katy Katani joins the lending team as an associate director and will be responsible for originating and managing both broker and borrower relationships, as well as borrower marketing activities. Sami Mziu has been named as head of product and will be responsible for product development. Mziu joins from the London Stock Exchange Group. Emily Gates has been appointed as marketing manager and Arjun Riyait joins in an analytical role, where he will be responsible for analysing prime property investment opportunities.

German real estate fund manager PMM Group has appointed Aziz Gani as director of acquisitions to grow a portfolio of affordable housing in the UK for the firm. Gani has 15 years’ experience in housing, most recently as head of land and new business for Mears Group. Previously he has worked at Countryside, One Housing, Swan Housing and L&Q.
