People and companies: Arcadis appoint director of resilient cities in the UK

Russell Taylor (pictured left) has joined Auction House London as an associate director from Savills. He will focus on business development.

Miller Homes has appointed Warren Thompson (pictured second from left) from Redrow Homes as its divisional managing director for the north of England, starting in 2020. He will join the executive board and be responsible for the North East, Teesside, North West and Yorkshire regions.

Arcadis has appointed Anusha Shah (pictured second from right) as director of resilient cities in the UK. In the newly created role, she will work with city leaders to better understand short- and long-term resiliency planning challenges and support organisations in meeting their net zero targets. Shah’s previous role was as the founder and chief executive of Plan for Earth.

Gary Clark (pictured right) has joined HOK in London as regional leader for its science and technology practice covering the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He has an architectural portfolio that includes high-performance buildings across multiple sectors, including higher education, residential and commercial.

Winckworth Sherwood law has appointed Jamie Barton and Richard Mulcock as partners. They join the Oxford office in the commercial real estate department for the Thames Valley area.

Carter Towler has appointed Jacques Esterhuizen as director to head up the investment team and Brett Harrison as associate in the valuation team. Esterhuizen previously worked for Cushman & Wakefield and Harrison has worked for Colliers and JLL.

Knight Frank in Cardiff has appointed Owen Griffiths as senior associate in its valuation and advisory division. He joins from Lambert Smith Hampton, where he led its Cardiff valuation team.

Colliers International has appointed Eleanor Osborn as a trainee building surveyor in its Bristol office. Harry Barlow and Alex van den Bogerd have joined as graduate surveyors in the valuations and advisory and industrial and logistics teams respectively. Carolina Green has been promoted to assistant facilities manager.

LendInvest has hired Gene Clohessy from Shawbrook as director of mortgage underwriting and Jan Gallagher as a business development manager, responsible for sourcing deals across the north-west of England.

John Woodman, senior partner at Hollis, has been appointed as master of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors. He succeeds Digby Flower of Cushman & Wakefield.

Ben Farwell has joined Knight Frank Birmingham as a graduate surveyor in its industrial agency division. He previously worked at Place Partnership in Worcester.

Deutsche Finance International has appointed Daniel Filser as a senior associate from Allianz Real. Jonni Glick has joined as an analyst from InfraRed Capital.

Amanda Briggs has returned to Briton Knowles as a partner and as head of its new office in Cambridge. She previously worked for the firm for 10 years, leaving in 2006 to join Bidwells as head of valuations.

Stephen Hubbard of CBRE will retire as UK chairman and member of the UK executive committee at the end of this year following a 40-year career. He will be succeeded by Michael Brodtman from 1 January 2020.

Cushman & Wakefield has made the following promotions. Partner: Dimitrios Vlachopoulos, global occupier services; and Sarah Bell, DTZ Investors. Associate director: Alex Postiglione, information technology; Amy King, London markets; Angela Singh, global occupier services; Arthur Morgan, business space regions; Asher Seifman, legal; Chandana Amarasingha and Chris Butcher, information technology; Claire Pegg, business space regions; Donna Ward, information technology; Fergus Vardey, London markets; Harriet Addison and Henrietta Fox Homan, global occupier services; Isaac Lazarus, information technology; and James Mutch and James Woodhead, business space regions.

Law firm Lodders has recruited construction law expert Heidi Brennan as a partner in its real estate practice. She formerly led the construction and engineering division at Emms Gilmore Liberson.

Hammerson has named Méka Brunel as a non-executive director and a member of the investment and disposal committee and the nomination committee, effective from 1 December 2019.

Rettie & Co has hired Sandy Gilmour as an associate director in the land and development team. She joins from Graham + Sibbald and has more than 20 years’ experience working in the Scottish market.

WestStar has appointed Elliot Jackson as an assistant development manager. He joins the firm following the completion of an industrial placement and will provide support to existing and new development projects.

Long Harbour has promoted Rebecca Taylor to managing director of its build-to-rent investment team for the Long Harbour Multi-Family investment programme. She joined the firm in 2015 as director of real estate and has previously worked for Laing O’Rourke.

Eddisons has recruited directors James Staveley and Matt Silas and associates Dan Sidlow and Thomas Sztejer to its North West valuation team. They join from Atlas One, which has recently ceased trading.
