This week’s appointments and promotions
Architecture and design practice Gensler has promoted Tariq Shaikh to leader of its Birmingham office. He is a specialist in managing and delivering large-scale and complex projects and has also served as practice area leader for mixed-use and retail centres. Shaikh replaces Alistair Cory who will move in house to Oxford University.
Ed Jefferson has joined Colliers International’s Bristol-based hospitality team as a surveyor in the hotels agency. He was formerly with Sidney Phillips and will work across the South West territory south of the M4.
Ian Griffiths has joined CBRE’s North West planning and development team as a director. He was previously with GVA and brings a wealth of experience in advising clients on the delivery of major development and regeneration projects. Griffiths has recently advised the Homes and Communities Agency on its Starter Homes / Accelerated Construction Programme and Manchester City Council on the Northern Gateway Development Initiative.
Law firm Irwin Mitchell has appointed Adrian Barlow from Pinsent Masons. Based in the London office, he joins as national head of real estate and will be responsible for leading a team of commercial real estate partners and commercial real estate lawyers across the UK. His client focus is in advising public and private sector organisations on project strategy and the implementation of real estate portfolio and business change management from a legal perspective.
Graduate William Matthews from Bruton Knowles has qualified as a chartered surveyor.
Cushman & Wakefield has appointed Colin McCash as partner and head of its Scottish valuation team. He was previously a partner and head of the national valuation team at Graham + Sibbald. McCash will lead a team of 10 valuers in Glasgow and Edinburgh, working with UK and foreign lenders, funds, property companies and Scottish businesses.
Michael Mercer has rejoined Strettons as head of residential sales and lettings. He was previously with Kings Group.
Grosvenor Europe has appointed Jarek Morawski as director of research and analysis based in Luxembourg.
Law firm DMH Stallard has recruited Michael White as a partner in its Brighton office. He has almost 40 years’ residential and commercial property experience.
Colliers International has appointed Tim McIntosh as a senior surveyor in its retail capital markets team. He has more than six years’ experience and joins from Colliers’ Melbourne office, where he worked in the national retail investment services team under Lachlan MacGillivray.
James Hemstock has joined property investment consultancy Franck-Steier Price as an associate director in Birmingham. He will provide strategic acquisition and disposal advice to clients across the national investment market. He joins from JLL’s capital markets team.
Centro has appointed Morgan Pérez as an associate director. Morgan joined the firm in 2015 and works in the commercial agency division with Paul Harwood and Sandra Lau.
Property and construction consultancy Gleeds has strengthened its healthcare team with the following appointments: Nick Peppitt as director for building surveying, Jacqui Shepherd as senior project manager, and Tom Brader rejoins the firm as associate director.
Grant Edmondson has returned to the 2m sq ft Hillington Park industrial scheme in Glasgow as commercial director. He previously held the position of estate director for 13 years. Glenny has appointed Alan Jones as head of facilities management for the general portfolio and Eleanor Austin as residential property manager in its asset and property management division. Jones brings a knowledge of managing high-end commercial and residential buildings to the role, and Austin will capitalise on her experience in developing landlord and tenant relationships to her new position.
Carterwood has hired Tammy Boyce as a senior consultant to write bespoke reports offering due diligence and help new and existing clients make the right care sector investment decisions.
Malcolm Hollis has made the following appointments: Neil Smith and Ian Bellamy join as building surveyors in the Glasgow and Manchester offices respectively; and Mike Laindahr joins the energy and sustainability team at the Birmingham office as a sustainability consultant.
GVA has appointed hotel and licensed leisure agency specialist John Coggins. He joins as an associate in the hotel and leisure team in Cardiff.
