Oxford Street will have more homes than shops

A £1bn development boom will leave London’s Oxford Street with more homes than shops.

The iconic street, which attracts four million shoppers a week, has 248 stores, 14 of which are vacant.

But nine new developments planned for the street will deliver nearly 500 homes, according to Aston Chase and Galliard Homes.

Flats for sale along Oxford Street are priced from £950,000 to £4.5 million.

Among the largest projects are Great Portland Estates’ 140-flat Rathbone Square, and Almacantar’s 33-floor Centre Point, which includes 82 flats.
