Oxford Nanopore mulls HQ move to Abingdon Business Park

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is in talks with Royal London to move its headquarters to Abingdon Business Park in Oxfordshire.

Vale of White Horse District Council has approved Royal London’s planning note to create a specialist facility for Oxford Nanopore on the former EBI Foods site. EBI vacated the building in 2017 and the site is currently occupied by Carter Manufacturing.

The plans include repurposing the existing warehouse into offices, R&D, storage and distribution space, totalling 49,126 sq ft. Oxford Nanopore has a goal to employ 100 people on site, including those in newly created jobs and staff relocating from the existing 17,000 sq ft headquarters at Oxford Science Park.

Royal London acquired Abingdon Business Park in October 2019, with a view to making the 414,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme more attractive for occupiers with a scientific background.

XLB asset-manages the park on behalf of Royal London. Lambert Smith Hampton and VSL & Partners act as joint agents.
