BUDGET 2016: George Osborne is due to unveil plans for the development of up to 5,000 new homes in “garden suburbs” in Wednesday’s Budget.
The policy is a revision of the government’s garden cities programme, which was seen as a “war on the countryside” with plans to build large-scale new conurbations in the likes of Ebbslfeet, Kent.
Garden suburbs will see councils encouraged to build small settlements on the outskirts of existing towns.
