VIDEO: The slump in global oil prices might actually create some investment opportunities in Aberdeen, according to speakers at Estates Gazette’s latest Question Time event.
In an economy dominated by oil, the challenges facing Aberdeen are making headlines.
Aberdeen Asset Management’s head of segregated property mandates, Andrew Creighton, said: “We’re acting for clients who want to match their liabilities, so it’s a long-term investment play. With some stalling of some of the key metrics, we might see that as an opportunity to do more rather than less in the short term.”
Creighton was joined on the panel Jenny Laing, leader of Aberdeen city council; John Low, managing director of Stewart Milne Homes and director of Homes for Scotland; Savills’ Mark Fleming; and Nick Hayes from Unite Students. The event was chaired by Estates Gazette editor Damian Wild, and held at the Rox Hotel.
