Norges to buy Meadowhall stake for £1.2bn

Norges Bank Investment Management is under offer to buy a majority stake in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre.

The Norwegian pension fund is in exclusive talks to buy London & Stamford’s 50% stake and British Land’s 25% share in the 1.4m sq ft mall for about £1.2bn.

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, GIC of Singapore, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and the China Investment Corporation all expressed interest in the opportunity.

Savills is acting for LSi; CBRE is advising Norges.

All parties declined to comment.
