When Nobu Matsuhisa was quizzed on how he ended up being involved in hotels, the Japanese celebrity chef replied: “My partner, Robert De Niro asked me, ‘Why are we doing Nobu restaurants in someone else’s hotel?’.”
Although still best known for its chain of 40 Nobu restaurants, three in London, the chef and his two actor partners, Meir Teper and De Niro, now have nine Nobu Hotels in such places as Manila, Miami and Shoreditch, east London, and today the trio will unveil plans to add a second London hotel, on Portman Square.
