NHS Scotland has appointed JLL as it weighs up selling a 20.2-acre hospital site in west Glasgow.
It is thought Glasgow’s former Yorkhill and Queen Mother’s hospitals could be sold to generate funds for reinvestment in the NHS.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has approached developers to test interest in the development of the buildings and the land. The organisation has hired JLL to investigate options for a potential sale, which include a straight sale or a sale and leaseback arrangement.
The 20.2-acre site includes the West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital (formerly known as Yorkhill Hospital) and the former Queen Mother’s Maternity Hospital, which closed in 2010 and is currently vacant.
A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “The former Yorkhill site in the west end of Glasgow is not currently being marketed for sale, but we have appointed JLL to carry out a review of its potential market interest.”
JLL declined to comment.
