Plans for a data centre in Canning Town, E16, are set to be approved by Newham Council this week.
The proposal from SineQN includes redeveloping the former EMR Scrap Metal Recycling site on Bidder Street.
The developer’s plans comprise three buildings – a data centre with an office building spanning 600,000 sq ft, a 20,000 sq ft plant building and a 52,000 sq ft energy centre with a pump house.
If approved, SineQN said the development will be “the first hyper-scale data centre in Newham and will be a catalyst for the new digital quarter in the Cody Triangle, and specifically a new data corridor”, which is being proposed for Bidder Street and could heat up to 13,000 homes.
The site is allocated for industrial use in the Newham Local Plan and is located on strategic industrial land.
It is bordered by the Crown Wharf site to the south-east, where Barratt Homes plans to redevelop Crown Wharf, E16, into a £377m GDV scheme providing 871 homes.
SineQN provides powered shell and core developments for occupiers, fully enabled and ready for fit-out. It has more than 40 projects in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
