The property sector must not put job protection ahead of progress and innovation, according to Cushman & Wakefield’s chief digital officer Adam Stanley.
Speaking to EG at NYC Real Estate Tech Week, the former technology and security services director for Aviva said that a fear of losing jobs should not be used as an excuse to avoid moving forward. He said: “That’s the biggest challenge for a lot of organisations but if you spend a lot of time fearing the future, you will miss the future.”
He added that most real estate jobs will simply evolve as a result of tech innovation rather than be eliminated altogether and that those at risk still have time to future proof their careers.
“If you can’t articulate why you are uniquely qualified to provide advice, it will be difficult for you to remain productive in the future,” he said. “If you are doing something that doesn’t require you to think, not only are you wasting your time, but you might need to worry. The time to address this is now. Evolve.”
