Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has teamed up with a supporters club to submit plans for a development close to the Old Trafford stadium.
Neville and the Old Trafford Supporters Club have submitted plans, designed by AEW Architects, for an 86,000 sq ft development comprising a hotel and facilities for supporters.
The scheme will contain a 139-bedroom hotel, a 1,200-capacity supporters club, including bars, restaurants, a shop and a gym. It will be on the junction of Sir Matt Busby Way and Wharfside Way.
The project will be part-funded by money raised at Neville’s testimonial match, which was played last May.
Steve Burne, managing director of AEW, said: “This is a genuine chance for Gary to give something back to the fans. A lot of time was invested in the design stage so that we could be sure the building will provide a true match day experience for the fans.”
