The not-for-profit rail operator is in talks with Derby council about the future of the 70-acre prime development site, which would effectively extend and complete the successful 130 acre
A meeting is due to take place next week between the two to discuss timescales.
Network Rail will either seek a joint venture partner or sell the site on once it has been remediated.
NR’s Jo Lewington said: “We’re engaging with the council through its core strategy process about what we can do.
“It’s likely we’ll take it to the market as a joint venture opportunity advertised via OJEU.”
