Guy Metcalfe, the recently retired Morgan Stanley investment banking executive, is joining CBRE’s board of directors.
Metcalfe, who retired as global chairman of investment banking at the end of January, will take up the board role on 26 February.
In more than 30 years at Morgan Stanley, Metcalfe advised clients on more than $850bn (£670bn) of transactions. He has served as a strategic adviser to CBRE and helped to land notable capital-raising, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions for the company.
Bob Sulentic, CBRE’s chair and chief executive, said: “Guy is one of the premier strategic advisers in the real estate industry. Our board will be greatly enhanced by his deep knowledge of and broad perspective on our sector as well as his sharp strategic thinking as we plot a course for CBRE’s continued growth.”
Metcalfe has advised on some major transactions in the real estate industry, including the mergers of AMB Property Corp, KTR Capital Partners, Industrial Property Trust, Liberty Property Trust and Duke Realty with Prologis; and, among others, Blackstone’s acquisitions of Trizec Properties, Equity Office Properties, Hilton Hotels, BioMed Realty Trust, Gramercy Property Trust and QTS Realty.
He also advised on numerous initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, significant private capital raises and secured and unsecured debt offerings.
Metcalfe said: “I have seen CBRE up close for many years and know its strategic, operational and financial strengths are unmatched in the real estate services sector. The company is extremely well positioned for the future and I am excited to work with Bob and my fellow directors to help drive growth and excellence across the business.”
Metcalfe also serves on the board of directors of non-profits, including the Child Mind Institute, and has been an adviser on real estate matters to the Partnership Fund for New York City.
