Plans for a major office-led canalside development in Nottingham are being unveiled at the MIPIM event in Cannes today.
The 196,000 sq ft Waterside Point will be located on a key gateway site into the south of the city next to the Nottingham Canal. The BREEAM Excellent-rated scheme is intended to revitalise the former Ford garage site on Nottingham’s London Road by introducing 181,328 sq ft of new offices, alongside 14,700 sq ft of bars, retail and a showroom.
The consented landmark building will have a glass and metal zigzag design and will be developed in three phases. The first phase comprises 69,342 sq ft of offices alongside 14,700 sq ft of retail.
Waterside Point forms a major part of the city’s Waterside regeneration zone, which also comprises the Hub, a £60m investment to improve the city’s train station.
The owner, Oxford-based Oakhill Group, already has funding in place via internal resources and is now seeking prelets for the development.
Chris Sinclair, director at Innes England, which is jointly advising Oakhill with Nottingham-based CPMG Architects, said: “The owners had the confidence to spend three years getting planning consent for building. They know the potential of this site and what it can offer Nottingham and the surrounding area.”
