The St Peter’s Partnership will also include a number of landowners in the area.
Its aim is to comprehensively upgrade St Peter’s Square, where Argent and the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund have consent for a 270,000 sq ft office building; One St Peter’s Square.
The area also contains a collection of historic civic buildings including the town hall, the central library, the Midland Hotel, and the former Free Trade Halll.
The council and its partners plan the refurbishment of the central library and town hall extension over the next three to four years.
