Ministers to unveil increased expenditure for scientific buildings

The construction of new buildings and the refurbishment of run-down premises are part of a £1bn public-private boost for scientific research in Britain's universities to be announced by ministers today.

The two-year plan is in partnership with Wellcome Trust.
