Patrick McMahon, senior partner at Bidwells, speaks to EG about his three wishes for the firm and dispels merger rumours.
McMahon, who was elected for an unprecedented third term earlier in the year, looks back on his tenure and talks about remaining staunchly independent, growing organically and the increasing need to relate to the industry internationally.
He says: “We are acting on a world stage, as we know, and that is nowhere more than in science and technology – it is a battle for world talent.
“The cluster for Oxford, Cambridge and London is tiny in relation to the Silicon Valley and – working together – it is a seriously interesting world-class cluster.
“So, we have to pull together and improve international relationships.”
He adds: “Launching our strategy, the things that resonated the most with everyone was being free to say ‘no’ to things but there is lots and lots to do.”
