Former British Land executive director Charles Maudsley has joined the Federated Hermes Property Unit Trust’s committee, in a non-executive role.
Maudsley, who is also a strategic adviser on real estate to Bridgepoint and founder of Alma Real Estate Consultancy, will also join the appointments, audit and asset plan committees.
The five-strong committee oversees the fund’s activities on behalf of investors. Its members include former CBRE executive director Sue Clayton, Opus Corporate Finance partner Frances Davies, and former Southern Housing Group chairman Andrew McIntyre.
Fellow member Paul Clark, also a senior investment director at AustralianSuper, is set to step down from the committee at the AGM on 14 July.
Maudsley was a board director at British Land for nine years until his departure in 2019, with day-to-day responsibility for the landlord’s retail, leisure and residential portfolios.
Prior to British Land, Charles was co-head of Europe for LaSalle Investment Management and sat on the global board of the investment management business. This followed his role as UK head of real estate for AXA REIM.
Maudsley said: “FHPUT has a clear track record of long-term outperformance while also being a consistent leader in ESG implementation across its portfolio, decision making and outcomes.”
David Nicol, chairman of Federated Hermes Property Unit Trust committee, said: “Charles Maudsley brings a wealth of experience to the FHPUT Committee in fund and property management, as well as development.
“The committee’s role is to provide investors with independent oversight and Charles’ knowledge and expertise in the sector will be an asset to our clients.”
