Countryside has received planning permission for a 436-home scheme on Marlow Road in Walthamstow, E17.
Countryside is redeveloping the Marlowe Road Estate, and the plans include 150 council homes for social rent to replace the existing homes that will be demolished.
An additional 286 homes will be created, of which 40 will be available through shared ownership schemes and the remainder for private sale.
Work will be carried out in five phases, with construction expected to start in mid 2016.
The scheme will also provide nearly 11,000 sq ft of commercial space
Khevyn Limbajee, cabinet member for housing at Waltham Forest council, said: “The issues with Marlowe Road have been long-standing and the scope of the scheme underlines the wholesale changes that were required to reclaim this community and provide it with the housing it requires to take it well on into the next century and beyond.”
