Shares in real estate companies slumped across the board, as stocks stumbled on a dismal outlook for the US economy.
The biggest losers included RDI REIT, which finished trading down 11.29% to 72.3p; NewRiver REIT, down 10.76% to 68p; and Countrywide, which fell 9.57% to 120p.
Schroder REIT continued its tumble, closing at 35p, a drop of 7.16% on the session. It followed similar falls earlier in the week with the news that refinancing costs had driven a £32.5m loss in annual results.
Urban&Civic failed to persuade the market with a bullish outlook post-pandemic.
The master developer revealed it had acquired two major strategic sites in Cambridge and was positive on housebuilding and BTR sales, despite valuation dips in its half-year results. It fell 4.71% to a closing price of 232.5p.
The FTSE 100 fell 3.99% to 6,076.7 and the FTSE 250 was down 3.59% to 16,973.67.
