Market wrap: Persimmon among top fallers in FTSE 100

Persimmon saw its share price fall by 2.48% to 2,752p despite reporting that its new chief executive Dean Finch was to join earlier than expected, making it the top faller in the FTSE 100.

It was joined by fellow housebuilders Barratt Developments and Berkeley Group, which saw their share prices slip by 2.21% to 522.6p and 1.19% to 4,642p respectively.

Landsec also entered the FTSE 100’s top fallers after its share price dropped by 1.26% to 548p.

Outside of the FTSE 100 real estate’s main fallers were NewRiver REIT, GCP Student Living and Ediston Property Investment. All saw their share prices tumble by more than 5% to 59.6p, 130p and 52.2p respectively.

Dukemont Capital saw its shares jump 25% to 0.88p, while Countrywide’s share price was up 9.02% to 145p.

Overall the FTSE 100 was up 0.58% to 6,111 points, but the FTSE 250 was down by 0.23% to 17,583 points.
