Market wrap: Hammerson shares tumble on rights issue plan

Hammerson shares dipped by 4.95% today, making it one of today’s biggest fallers in the FTSE 250 after the retail landlord confirmed it was gearing up for a cash call.

The REIT ended the day at 61p, after confirming plans to launch a “possible equity raise by way of a rights issue”.

Hammerson also said it was in talks to sell its 50% stake in VIA Outlets to its joint venture partner APG.

Also listed in the biggest FTSE 250 fallers list today was Workspace Group, which was down by 6.5% to 575p.

Meanwhile, British Land was one of the biggest fallers in the FTSE 100, falling by 0.16% to 365.5p.

The FTSE 100 ended the session up by 2.29% at 6,032.85, while the FTSE 250 was up 1.33% at 17,158.12.
