Countrywide shares dropped by 3.17% to 222.70p today after the company announced that its chairman and group managing director have exited the struggling business.
Peter Long has left his role as executive chairman with immediate effect and group managing director Paul Creffield will leave at the end of March.
The company also announced that its shareholders have shown a lack of support for a proposed £90m sale of a majority stake to private equity firm Alchemy Partners.
Also ending the day down was Frasers Group after making it on to the list of the biggest fallers on the FTSE 250 index. The company fell by 4.73% to 451.20p.
According to The Times, JD Sports is engaged in discussions with Debenhams over a rescue deal, which, if successful, would put an end to the long-standing ambitions of Mike Ashley (majority owner of Frasers Group) to buy the business.
Meanwhile, SEGRO nudged up 1.14% to 907.20p following its first day on the Euronext Paris market this morning. The listing is part of the company’s expansion of its continental European investor base and operations.
The FTSE 100 ended up 1.55% on 6,432.17. The FTSE 250 finished up 1.06% on 19,789.56.
