Manchester’s famous Chinese restaurant, Yang Sing, on Princess Street, has been seriously damaged by a fire.
The fire brigade were on the scene just before lunchtime yesterday and battled for three hours to bring the blaze under control.
According to a fire brigade spokesman, the fire started in the basement and spread through ducting to the upper floors. Two people were in the restaurant at the time but were unhurt.
Harry and Joey Yeung own the restaurant, a regular haunt of Manchester property professionals. The building is owned by an off-shore property company. Yang Sing had been undergoing extensive renovation work.
