The University of Manchester has delayed its search for a joint venture partner to work on a £1.5bn innovation district scheme.
Developers will now have to wait until September before they decide whether they want to bid or not.
Previously, the estimated date of publication of the contract notice for the scheme was 30 April this year.
The university is seeking a jv partner to bring forward the ID Manchester redevelopment, which will see its 26-acre North Campus site developed into a science and technology hub.
Its plan is to deliver 3.5m sq ft of mixed-use space, including three acres of public realm. The scheme also includes the opportunity to repurpose the 650,000 sq ft Grade II listed Sackville Street Building.
Diana Hampson, director of estates at the University of Manchester, said: “It is looking like it will be the end of summer before the OJEU process goes live on ID Manchester; this is just a few weeks later than we said when we launched at MIPIM.
“ID Manchester is an incredibly important development for the University of Manchester, and we have a number of internal processes we need to complete before pressing the button on OJEU.
“Since our launch at MIPIM, we have received very strong interest from potential partners.”
The University of Manchester has instructed CBRE to find a jv partner.
