Manchester backs Kampus regeneration plan

Kampus-THUMBManchester city council has adopted Capital & Centric and Henry Boot Developments’ strategic regeneration framework to create a £150m mixed-use Kampus district.

The joint-venture partners submitted the SRF in March. Plans include 500 flats, hotels and leisure space.

The 450,000 sq ft scheme covers the area known as the Aytoun Street Campus, which was home to the MMU business school until 2012 when it relocated to the new £75m All Saints Campus off Oxford Road.

Capital & Centric director Adam Higgins said: “It was fantastic working with the students at such an early stage in the design, they helped mould our plans for the development and we were taken aback by both their creativity and design flare. We are delighted to have the framework adopted and think it is great that the university has been involved in the changing landscape of its legacy site.”
