Mabec Developers has unveiled plans to redevelop the former St John’s hospital near Lincoln into a £40m residential-led development.
The firm plans to renovate the historic hospital site in Bracebridge Heath, Lincolnshire into 183 luxury homes and flats, including 77 new-build family homes in the grounds of the 18-acre site.
The scheme has been named St John’s Village and will see the Victorian hospital transformed after laying vacant for around 24 years.
Designed by architects Hamilton and Thomas Percy, the asylum was built at a cost of around £30,000 in 1852. Mabec acquired the site in early 2012.
The first phase of the development will include 10 luxury flats and seven new-build, four-bedroom detached houses.
