Lululemon works out new West End office deal

Lululemon has taken new office space in London’s West End after a period of considerable growth.

The Canadian-American yoga and activewear brand has signed a deal at 80 Strand, WC2, where it has sublet 20,000 sq ft from Pearson. It will occupy the space on the mezzanine west level of the building on a 10-year lease.

The company’s latest UK accounts for the year to 31 January 2023 showed that turnover rose by 46% to £88.7m, profit rose by 40% to £3.2m and staff numbers swelled by 29% to 519, including head office staff increasing from 133 to 184.

In 2018, EG reported that Pearson was looking to sublease up to 250,000 sq ft at its head office at 80 Strand as part of its restructuring programme, which included reducing the company’s office locations to fewer than 100 by 2020.

The Grade II listed riverside building, which was originally built in 1932, backs onto Victoria Embankment and was recently renovated in an art deco style, after the Conley family secured planning approval from Westminster Council to revamp the building in March 2020. Renovations included a new entrance pavilion, a two-storey indoor and outdoor Glasshouse Garden and roof terraces.
