London mayor needs to focus on a wider strategy, according to experts at MIPIM

MIPIM 2016: The next London mayor must focus on a wider strategic vision for London and creating the infrastructure for growth, according to experts at MIPIM.

Robert Davis, deputy leader of Westminster City Council, said the next mayor needs to focus their attention on strategic issues, and needs to be a “strategic figurehead”.

“There needs to be a sense of partnership between the mayor’s office and London boroughs” he said.

Great Portland Estates’ Neil Thompson said the mayor needs to work on a London-wide growth agenda.

“The major thing we need to work on over the next decades is increasing the ability for London to have more capacity than it does at this stage in time,” he said.

Tony Pidgley, Berkeley Group, meanwhile said that alongside infrastructure, the next mayor needs to work on producing communities.

“Let’s get the infrastructure right, let’s get the programme, let’s get the public and private sector to work together.”
