Techspace, which provides flexible workspaces, has signed London AI Hub at its Farringdon base on Goswell Road, EC1.
The London AI Hub will occupy the second floor of the Techspace building, which will initially offer up to 6,000 sq ft of space.
As part of the deal, AI-native companies get the right of first refusal on second-floor suites in the 80,000 sq ft building. The former gin distillery has been redeveloped into premium offices and opened to the occupiers in October last year.
Quench AI is the first member to move in this month and joins the wider community of those who already call Techspace Goswell Road a home, including HR software scale-up Harriet, news channel Culted and social agency Whalar.
London AI Hub is an initiative established earlier this month by Tech Nation and the government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan to provide events and co-working space, as well as to create responsible AI development environment.
The wider Goswell Road hub combines state-of-the-art facilities with sustainability, boasting a BREEAM Excellent rating. It features advanced conferencing AV in every meeting space, wellness areas, a podcasting studio and three rooftop terraces.
Jonathan Bevan, chief executive at Techspace, said: “This space embodies our ambitions and the UK’s commitment to advancing AI, and we are eager to see the breakthrough results of this partnership.”
Peter Kyle, the UK’s secretary of state for science, innovation and technology, said: “The launch of the London AI Hub is another great step for the UK’s AI sector, which is continuing to lead on the global stage – with our new blueprint setting out how we will turbocharge the technology.”
