Valuable deals puts US giant in the investment league top spot

LOMA Q1 2017: CBRE has regained the top spot in EG’s Q1 2017 London investment league table, with a 19% market share bagging deals worth more than £1.2bn.

The win pushes the US giant back into first place following a three quarter drought, which saw it finish fourth in the final quarter of last year.

3 GM Real Estate £747.50 12%
4 Cushman & Wakefield £577.38 9%
5 Strutt & Parker £494.01 8%

The agent was involved in almost the same value of deals as it was in Q4 2016 (£1.2bn) but this was enough to boost its market share as investment across the capital fell by 30% on the previous quarter.

However, it was a close run for the top spot with Savills in second place with a 16% market share and a total value of just over £1bn, followed by GM Real Estate.

Rathbone Square, London
The sale of Facebook’s headquarters at Rathbone Square was the biggest deal of the quarter

All of the top three had an involvement in the biggest deal of the quarter; the £435m sale of Facebook’s headquarters, Rathbone Square, W1, to Deka Immobilien Investment and WestInvest Gesellschaft Für Investmentfonds. Both CBRE and GM Real Estate acted on behalf of the vendor and Savills on behalf of the purchaser with the sale making up a massive 38% of CBRE’s total share.

However, CBRE’s added involvement in the second largest deal of the quarter, the £292m sale of 1 Kingdom Street, W2, tipped it into pole position. The deal also saw agents Kieran D Cotter & Co (which advised the purchaser CC Land) become a new entrant into the top 10, with  JLL and Michael Elliott acting on behalf of the vendor also helping to push the two agents into our Q1 top 10.
