Leeds City College plans to develop a new campus in the city, with its principal hoping the site will deliver benefits not just for students but also the wider community.
The Cartwright Pickard-designed project will develop education facilities, a sports complex and homes on a currently derelict 275,957 sq ft site in the city’s Mabgate area.
The college has submitted an outline planning application to the city council and has launched a public consultation.
Bill Jones, the college’s principal, said the ambition was for the campus to “enhance the learning experience of our students and be widely used by members of the local community”.
Jones added: “The development will bring investment and regeneration to the area and is anticipated to act as a catalyst for further investment in this part of Leeds.”
