Leeds City Council has scrapped upcoming planning committee meetings following the spread of coronavirus.
The council’s chief planning officer will review “time-critical decisions” over the next three months, assessing schemes that can be delayed, as the council moves to remote working.
Leeds City Council said it had made the decision following calls from prime minister Boris Johnson to stop non-essential contact and travel.
It has also cancelled the full council meeting which was due to take place next week.
A spokesman said: “As part of our on-going response, the chief planning officer will lead an assessment of time-critical decisions anticipated over the next three months, and the chief officer (elections and regulatory) will review forthcoming licensing committee decisions.
“Where councillor decision making is required, we will consider delaying these until anticipated emergency powers allow meetings to be conducted by councillors remotely.”
The council said it is currently awaiting powers from government to allow urgent business to be conducted by councillors remotely.
